Legacie’s landmark Heaps Mill development in Liverpool welcomes residents…

Liverpool’s iconic skyline is transformed with the completion of both the Millers Place and One Park Lane developments.

Part of the prestigious Heaps Mill regeneration project, a high-profile scheme which is centred around the restoration of a Grade-II listed former rice mill, Miller’s Place sits adjacent to the old mill in a prime spot close to Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront.

Working alongside colleagues from Legacie, we delivered a full, light gauge steel frame solution for one of the apartment blocks, which is now home to 104 new apartments with a mix of one and two bedrooms.

Now fully completed, The Mill structure takes centre stage as the hub of the development, blending Liverpool’s industrial past with “contemporary urban living”.

Once again demonstrating the speed and efficiency of offsite construction in real-time, our team delivered the frame to a 31-week programme.

Logistically, space on the project was restricted with existing buildings in close proximity on three elevations and a public access road on the remaining elevation. Therefore, standard scaffold was NOT the preferred option for the client and Metek had to provide their own edge protection system for the duration of their works. This was risk assessed and planned by our experienced Senior Contracts Manager to ensure this element didn’t delay the build process but also supported other trades. Therefore, just in time delivery of materials was critical to ensure the success of the project.

Metek Managing Director Oliver Rogan said: “Working with Legacie on the first phase of the Heaps Mill masterplan has been a dream scheme for us here at Metek. The challenging site conditions and high-rise nature of the project is our sweet spot in terms of delivering on time and on budget. We look forward to seeing the full regeneration of the area take shape.’

All of the apartments have now been sold and residents are already being welcomed to their new homes.
