In summary Banstead Road, Purley

Metek were contracted by SBC to deliver a full load bearing light gauge steel frame with hot rolled steel (HRS) and erect from level 2 to level 6 (Roof). This marked our third collaboration with SBC and presented a unique set of challenges.  Following the demolition of existing housing, two new blocks were constructed, comprising 67 residential units, with a mix of one, two, and three bedroomed apartments.

Metek plc & Selsdon Building Contractors Ltd have shared values in terms of family values, business ethos and a joint vision for building strong relationship with key partners.

Our scope included the installation of pre-boarded external frames, non-boarded internal frames, concrete floors, and a concrete roof.

Unlike typical projects for Metek, this structure was built around reinforced concrete (RC) stair and lift cores, requiring meticulous planning to ensure secure integration with these elements.

Additionally, the complexity of the design resulted in a higher-than usual percentage of hot-rolled steel (HRS) within the structure.

Our in-house engineering team played a crucial role in refining the full structural design, leveraging their expertise to optimise efficiency and precision.

Utilising Revit models and detailed drawings, we facilitated seamless production of the frames and sections needed for construction.
