Working with Bowmer + Kirkland once again, the Travelodge project featured SFS infill to the cinema, restaurant, café, and hotel areas above a reinforced concrete ground floor podium.
Metek provided an end-to-end solution including three storeys of LGSF, bespoke SFS infill panels, concrete floors, and a joisted roof — delivering approximately 2,300m² GIFA.
The scope was increased during the build to include a galvanised HRS plant screen perimeter, designed, manufactured, and installed within three weeks.
Metek’s integrated approach ensured cost and programme certainty, with close coordination alongside the main contractor. The comprehensive delivery, from LGSF to plant screen structures, reflected a trusted relationship built over multiple projects.
Construction Details
The SFS frame consists of 100-150mm Stud & track along with external sheathing board & breather membrane. Access & build will be completed by MEWP’s.
The Hotel is a 3 storey build from a podium slab “by others” & will consist of a full load-bearing light gauge steel frame with HRS to stair cores & lift shafts.
A structural deck with a reinforced 170mm concrete slab, precast stairs to all cores, external sheathing board, breather membrane & a reinforced concrete roof. Access & Edge protection will be by Scaffold, a tower crane will be used for distribution & installation and a concrete pump will be used when pouring the slabs.
